"We do not grow older with years, but newer every day." emily dickinson

This is a little spot for some words and pictures about the life of one brinn elizabeth (b.e.).

I love my life, I really do. And am quite overwhelmed by/in awe of the number and variety of lives going on all around my small one. I do not see it as terribly important. But it is interesting, and it is mine. And I'm happy to share it with whoever would like some.

So please feel free to read and look. And share with me some thoughts if you feel to.

Where I'm from:

I currently live in Salt Lake City, in a small brick house not even a mile from where I grew up. Our dog Laszlo has his head conveniently in front of the laptop screen, and my 5 month old daughter is sucking on my wood necklace. In between, I've lived in Windsor, England; Guilin, China; Mallorca, Spain; Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a cabin at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon for a summer; and, most exotic of all, Logan, Utah. Other travels include time in Peru doing humanitarian work,  small towns and huge cities in Spain and England with my Dad attending Falconry fairs and competitions, multiple road trips through the Pacific Northwest with my husband, a brief jaunt in France, where I felt out of place and very much  the tourist, and weekends and summer time in Malad City, ID. When I think about where I'm from, I feel like I'm really from all these places and the people who came into my life there. I'm from a belief in God and a wonder at the world.

What I do:

Well now thats a very interesting question. Until last week, I was a first grade Chinese teacher in the Dual Immersion program. But I quit. And with good cause. Recall the aforementioned 5 month old? Well now I am her mom. Full time.

I also am an intern at the IRC, working with a program to help refugee parents and their kids navigate and succeed in the American school system.

If you click on that matteo tab, you can read all about the Chinese-American folk band we play in, so I'll say nothing more about that here.

I teach violin, hike with Laszlo (our dog), am trying to learn to cook things that taste good, and am working on improving my Chinese.
